Firecomms Fast Ethernet Fiber Optic Transceiver (FOT) is a fully integrated RCLED-based 650 nm transmitter and highly-sensitive receiver that operate within the IEEE 802.3u Fast Ethernet data communications standard. Rated for modulation of 250 Mbps and ideal for 100 Mb Ethernet, the Fast Ethernet FOT is designed to provide a Fast Ethernet communication link over POF.

The Fast Ethernet FOT provides a simpler interface to an Ethernet Phy than previously available, and is designed for use with ultra low-cost connectors. These features of the Firecomms FOT combine to significantly reduce the cost per node for applications such as home, office, and industrial Ethernet networks.

Available for the Fast Ethernet FOT, the Media Development Kit (MDK) is a complete reference design enables developers to set up a working network link over a length of POF to evaluate the performance of Firecomms’ transceivers as well as the link’s quality of service. The Transceiver Evaluation Kit (TEK) enables users to examine a POF link, and to test the operation of Firecomms FOTs.
