FIRECOMMS
CTO TO DISCUSS DEPLOYMENT OF POF FOR IPTV SERVICES WITHIN
THE HOME AT OFC/NFOEC
Cork, Ireland — March 21,
2007 — Firecomms CTO, John Lambkin, will discuss
the use of lowcost Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) as a solution
for the successful deployment of IPTV services within the
home at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition
and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC)
During his talk at the POF Pavilion on
March 29 in Anaheim, California, Lambkin will describe
how Firecomms’ OptoLock™ plugless transceiver
technology enables the installation of a fiber link within
the home to be as simple as wiring up a set of audio speakers
while simultaneously providing a quality-of-service link
at data rates up to 250 Mbps.
In conjunction with this discussion,
on booth 1569 at the conference which runs from March 27
through 29, Firecomms will demonstrate how this new Fast
Ethernet POF port, that provides instant termination of
bare and incorporates Firecomms Fast Ethernet transceivers,
significantly quickens and simplifies the connection of
devices in communications and infotainment networks.
About
Firecomms Ltd.
Firecomms, a compound semiconductor company,
develops high-speed light sources in visible range wavelengths.
Firecomms' lasers and LEDs provide the
groundwork that will revolutionize optical data communications
for small area networks, such as in-car networks and home
networks. Firecomms' low power visible lasers unleash
the potential for advances in medical devices, barcode
scanners, and optical storage devices.
The Ireland-based
company leverages its ten years of photonics research experience,
optical expertise, and extensive IP portfolio to develop
cost-effective solutions for applications in which the
use of glass fiber optics is prohibitively expensive. Additional
